House fire sparked by car collision in Cheltenham due to safety concerns: authorities

A vehicle collision caused a fire at a house that had been previously labeled as unsafe early on Thursday morning. The La Mott & Elkins Park Fire Companies received a call at 3:55 a.m. regarding a vehicle on fire on Chelten Hills Dr., which was later corrected to Church Rd. & Chelten Hills Dr. Chief Levy of the Elkins Park Fire Company was the first to arrive at 3:59 a.m. and observed that the vehicle had crashed into a house at 808 Chelten Hills Dr., resulting in a fire that spread to the front of the house. Firefighters quickly arrived and followed protocols for a house fire. The house had been deemed unsafe previously due to foundation problems, with no occupants present during the incident. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, and their whereabouts are currently unknown. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the firefighters. The house has since been boarded up for security reasons and marked once again as unsafe. Authorities are still searching for the driver involved in the crash, and details about their identity and the cause of the collision are still unclear.
