Greensboro police investigate fatal pedestrian crash on West Wendover Avenue

A pedestrian was killed Wednesday after being struck by a car in Greensboro, and police said the investigation is still ongoing. Officers were dispatched at approximately 2:23 p.m. Thursday to the area of West Wendover Avenue and South Holden Road for a collision involving a pedestrian. Investigators determined a Chevrolet Impala was traveling east in the center lane on West Wendover Avenue, between Spring Garden Street and South Holden Road, as a pedestrian was walking north on West Wendover. Police said the pedestrian was not using a crosswalk when the collision occurred in the roadway. The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to a local hospital but later died from injuries sustained in the collision. The pedestrian has not yet been identified. The Greensboro Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is conducting the investigation. No charges have been filed.
