Fundraiser launched for man injured in Mount Hood ski lift tragedy
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A GoFundMe has been created for a man who survived a tragic ski lift accident at Mount Hood. On April 30 a tragic ski lift accident left one dead and one injured, both of whom worked in Government Camp. According to Hoodland Fire, two employees were in a maintenance basket at around 9:30 a.m. when it fell, dropping them into rugged terrain. A loved one created a GoFundMe for the survivor, named Evan Parsons. In the fundraiser description, it states that while workers compensation is covering the medical side, there are many other financial stressors that came about as a result of the accident. "While workers’ compensation will help cover most of Evan’s direct medical care, there are still many financial burdens that come with a life-changing accident that are not easily covered. Lost income, travel expenses, time away from work for family support, rehabilitation needs, day-to-day costs, and the countless unexpected challenges during recovery all place enormous strain on a family already carrying so much emotionally," said Kelsey Sayre, the GoFundMe fundraiser organizer. They have a goal of raising $12,000 for Evan and his family. Currently, over $2,000 have been raised. Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference for their family during this time," Sayer said. "And if you are unable to donate, sharing this page and keeping Evan and Julia in your thoughts is deeply appreciated."
