First Hit-and-Run Fatality in Las Vegas 2026
A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred on New Year's Day on the Las Vegas Strip, resulting in the death of a 43-year-old woman from Kansas. The collision, involving a Cadillac driven by a 77-year-old man from Pomona, California, took place near Mandalay Bay Resort. Despite the driver leaving the scene, he was later identified and arrested. The woman was walking in a lane when the Cadillac struck her, leading to her passing at University Medical Center. The driver faces a hit-and-run charge and is set to appear in court on Jan. 2. This incident is the first traffic-related fatality of the year within Las Vegas Metropolitan police's jurisdiction.
