FHP investigating fatal crash involving pedestrian in Marion County
A fatal crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred just before 4:30 p.m. in Marion County on Monday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.Troopers said the crash involved one pedestrian and a sedan on CR-329, just north of CR-320.The vehicle was traveling southbound on CR-329 when the pedestrian was standing near the road, FHP said.According to troopers, the pedestrian was using a chainsaw to cut a felled tree that was in the roadway.That's when the vehicle struck the tree and the pedestrian, FHP said.The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.This remains an active investigation.
