Father sacrifices life to save son in kayak accident in Southern California.
A 54-year-old father has tragically passed away after saving his 7-year-old son's life during a boating accident at Lake Perris State Recreation Area in Riverside County, California. The incident occurred when their kayak capsized while they were playing offshore. The father heroically kept his son afloat until rescue personnel arrived, but he was later pronounced dead at Riverside University Health System. His son is still hospitalized for evaluation. It was reported that neither the father nor son were wearing life jackets, despite one being available on their vessel. California State Parks reminds that children 12 and under must wear a life jacket on moving recreational vessels. The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Office is investigating the cause of death, while California State Parks law enforcement is also looking into the incident.
