Father sacrifices life to save son in California lake kayaking accident
A 54-year-old father tragically passed away after rescuing his 7-year-old son from a boating accident in Riverside County, California. California State Parks officials responded to a distress call at Lake Perris State Recreation Area, where the man and his son had capsized in a kayak. Despite the father's heroic efforts to keep his son afloat until rescue personnel arrived, the man was found unconscious and later pronounced dead at Riverside University Health System. The child was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Witnesses described the scene, emphasizing the lengthy CPR efforts. Both the father and son were not wearing life jackets, which is required by California law for children under 12 on a moving recreational vessel. The incident is under investigation by authorities, with condolences extended to the family by California State Parks officials.
