Fatal U-turn in Southern California blamed for driver's death, police report

Early Tuesday morning in Long Beach, there was a fatal collision involving a driver who crashed into another vehicle making a U-turn at 10th Street and Orange Avenue. The Long Beach Police Department responded to the incident at around 4:35 a.m. It appears that a vehicle traveling east on 10th Street collided with a car attempting to make the U-turn, causing one of the vehicles, an older dark-colored sedan, to veer into parked vehicles. The sedan sustained significant damage to its driver's side. The driver of the sedan was taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead. Fortunately, the occupants of the other vehicle were unharmed. The authorities have stated that drugs or alcohol do not seem to have played a role in the accident, but investigations are ongoing.
