Fatal two-vehicle crash kills one in Malheur County
A motorcyclist was pronounced dead on Saturday after colliding with a semi-truck on Highway 20 in Malheur county. According to Oregon State Police (OSP), John Platt, 67, while driving his Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the morning of July 18, attempted to pass a Peterbilt semi-truck as it was turning left, causing a collision with the driver’s side of the truck near the 255 milepost of Highway 20. OSP responded to the crash. Police say Platt was pronounced dead on the scene. A passenger on the motorcycle, Yolanda Platt, 70, suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The operator of the Peterbilt, Victor Pena-Olvera, 24, was unharmed, police said. The highway was impacted by the crash for approximately two hours as the result of the on-scene investigation.
