Fatal motor vehicle accident in Taunton under investigation
TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) -- The Bristol County District Attorney's Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident hat happened late Friday night in Taunton. Around 11:15 p.m., police and EMS were were called to the of 260 block of County Street for a report of a single motor vehicle crash. When they arrived on scene, police found a 2001 Honda Accord had crashed into a telephone pole, with heavy damage to the driver's side of the vehicle. The driver, identified as 26-year-old Selina Mendez, of Taunton, was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead a short time later. The passenger, identified as a 23-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. The crash is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office along with Taunton Police Department.
