Fatal head-on collision on Highway 115
In Colorado Springs, a tragic incident occurred as two individuals lost their lives in a head-on collision on Highway 115 near Lake Avenue on Monday, Feb. 2. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a distress call around 2 p.m. reporting the crash south of East Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard. Upon arrival, authorities found both drivers deceased. The preliminary inquiry indicated that a car traveling southbound on Hwy 115 veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in a fatal collision with another vehicle. A third car was also part of the accident, and the driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. CSPD has stated that speeding and alcohol do not seem to have been contributing factors. As the investigation progresses, northbound Highway 115 will remain closed for an extended period. Drivers are advised to stay clear of the area and exercise caution if they need to pass through the vicinity.
