Fatal golf cart accident in Sumter County on Friday night
The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a tragic accident occurred on Friday night in Sumter County, involving a collision between a Kia Soul and a golf cart. The incident took place at the intersection of County Road 109 and U.S. Route 27, east of The Villages, around 9:30 p.m. Sadly, the driver and passenger of the golf cart, a 64-year-old man from Lady Lake and a 58-year-old woman from The Villages, lost their lives after the golf cart failed to stop for a red light and was struck by the Kia. The collision caused the golf cart to overturn. The driver of the Kia, along with a 1-year-old boy in the vehicle, sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
