Fatal crash involving Shreveport police patrol unit under investigation
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport police are investigating the cause of a fatal crash involving one of their own. On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the crash happened in the 3700 block of Greenwood Road as a Shreveport Police Department patrol unit was responding to a call for service. An SPD news release said the female victim walked into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle. The officer involved voluntarily submitted to "standard procedural testing," but SPD said there is no suspicion of wrongdoing on the officer's part, and the driver was not cited. The woman died on the scene. SPD said the department "mourns the loss of a member of our community and extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic incident. The investigation is ongoing.
