Fatal crash involving semi in Callahan County, 2 injured
CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A fatal crash involving a semi and another vehicle has shut down part of Highway 36 in Callahan County, with a medical helicopter landing at the scene. The crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 36 and FM 603. According to our reporter at the scene, the semi’s load, believed to be metal pipes, spilled onto the roadway. First responders extricated at least one person from a vehicle. An official with the Texas Department of Public Safety said one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were injured and transported by ambulance and medical helicopter. Drivers are urged to avoid the area while crews work to clear the wreckage.
