Fatal crash in Bolton involving car and taxi, three youths feared dead

Four individuals, including three teenagers, are presumed to have tragically lost their lives in a collision involving a taxi and a car in Greater Manchester. The incident occurred on Wigan Road in Bolton during the early hours of Sunday, as confirmed by Greater Manchester Police (GMP). The driver of a red Seat Leon and two passengers, believed to be between 18 and 19 years old, as well as the driver of a Citroen C4 Picasso, a man in his 50s, all succumbed to the collision that took place around 12:45am. Unfortunately, all four individuals were declared deceased at the scene, while five other passengers who were injured were transported to the hospital. GMP Chief Inspector Helen McCormick disclosed that the older man was the taxi driver and affirmed the ongoing process of formal identification. Families of the presumed victims have been notified and are receiving support from specialized family liaison officers. The Chief Inspector described the incident as "devastating," noting the challenging circumstances faced by emergency responders at the crash site. Additional emergency service personnel were promptly dispatched to secure the area and assist in extricating individuals from the vehicles. Councillor Ayyub Patel from Bolton Council conveyed his condolences to the affected families and community, emphasizing the need for respect, patience, and cooperation during the investigative process. Message of support and assistance were also shared by the Bolton Council of Mosques (BCOM), expressing deep sorrow over the loss of young lives and detailing their collaborative efforts with authorities to provide necessary support. GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SICU) is appealing for witnesses to share any relevant information or footage to aid in the ongoing investigation.
