Boy, 2, dies from injuries in I-670 crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – The family of a Franklin County nonprofit leader is in mourning after losing their son in a multi-car crash on Interstate 670 last week. The Human Service Chamber of Franklin County announced Monday that the 2-year-old son of its executive director Michael Corey died as a result of the crash last Wednesday. “Tragically, his (Michael Corey’s) son Teddy, who would have turned 3 in September, died on July 19 from injuries sustained in the accident,” the organization said in a social media post. Previous reporting on the crash can be viewed in the video player above. Three others, including Corey, were hospitalized as a result of the crash. The Human Service Chamber said Monday that Corey is in stable condition after sustaining serious injuries. Teddy, the Corey family said in a statement, “lived in wide-eyed wonder of life itself” and adored his big brother Elijah. “Teddy knew and gave love that is warm, all-encompassing, and without abandon – the kind that changes the world,” the statement reads. “We are proud that he became a life-saving hero to other children and families.” The crash happened Wednesday morning on I-670 West near the Joyce Avenue overpass and the Interstate 71 interchange. There is no word on if any charges have been filed in connection with the crash. The Human Service Chamber of Franklin County is an association of more than 200 health and human services organizations in the county.
