Fatal collision shuts down all southbound lanes of Gene Snyder Freeway near I-71
A man is dead after a motorcycle and a semi truck collision on the Gene Snyder Freeway between Highway 42 and I-71.LMPD say the crash happened just before 10 p.m. near the 36-mile marker.Police say a man was riding a motorcycle when it collided with the semi truck. The man was thrown from the motorcycle and was fatally injured. The man was pronounced dead on the scene. He was wearing a helmet. During the crash the motorcycle was caught under the semi and dragged, causing a fire. Police say the fire was put out and all parties remained on scene following the crash/ The southbound lanes of the Gene Snyder Freeway between Highway 42 and I-71 are expected to be closed for the next three hours. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.
