Fatal collision on I-255 near I-64 Thursday afternoon
EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. – One person was killed and another hospitalized following a head-on collision Thursday on Interstate 255. According to Trooper Caleb Billingsley, Illinois State Police Troop 8, the crash happened just before 2:50 p.m. on I-255 near I-64 in East St. Louis. The two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the southbound vehicle crossed the median and smashed into the northbound car. The driver of the southbound vehicle was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the northbound car was taken to the hospital. Illinois State Police have not released any additional information.
