Fatal accident claims life of 81-year-old woman in Scales Mound
SCALES MOUNT, Ill. (WTVO) — An 81-year-old woman was killed Thursday after her car struck a garage, went down a hill, hit a utility pole, and rolled down an embankment in Scales Mound. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office announced the death of Judith Winter, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:44 p.m. Authorities responded to N Elizabeth Scales Mound Road, approximately .25 miles south of County Road O in response to the accident, on private property. Dispatched responders were alerted that Winter was without a pulse and not breathing. EMS personnel attempted life-saving measures at the scene, but Winter was beyond resuscitation. The crash remains under investigation, police said.
