Driver charged with DWI in deadly head-on collision on Burlington Road in Greensboro
Police in Greensboro, N.C. are currently looking into a tragic head-on collision that occurred during the early hours of last Saturday on Burlington Road. The incident occurred around 3:46 a.m. near Burlington Road and Buchanan Church Road, when a GMC Acadia veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Kia Sorento. The driver of the Kia, 60-year-old Rodney Charles Delorenzo from Burlington, sadly passed away at the scene. The driver of the GMC, 39-year-old Karl Earl Cheek from McLeansville, sustained injuries and was hospitalized. Cheek has been charged with driving while impaired and crossing into oncoming traffic. Once he is released from the hospital, he will face a warrant for felony death by vehicle related to the crash.
