‘Did I kill them?’: Affidavit reveals details in fatal crash of 13-year-old in Iowa Park
IOWA PARK (KFDX/KJTL) — An affidavit reveals details about the fatal bicycle crash that killed a 13-year-old in Iowa Park Saturday morning. According to a probable cause affidavit, just before 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, April 18, 2026, Iowa Park police were called to the 500 block of West Highway for a vehicle crash. Once officers arrived, they found a white Chevy pickup in a ditch facing west, with two males standing next to it. The affidavit states the driver, Andrew Tellez, told officers he was driving home from Maximus, located at 3138 Seymour Hwy., and did not remember leaving the club. He said the last thing he remembered was crashing the pickup. The affidavit reads that officers could smell alcohol on Tellez. When asked if he had been drinking, Tellez admitted to drinking. Witnesses stated they heard loud screeching tires from sudden braking. One witness said they saw a body lying in the road. Iowa Park Chief of Police Steve Davis said the 13-year-old died as a result of the crash. According to the affidavit, Tellez made statements of, "I will not blow, and you should just take me to jail. Did I kill them?" and "I just ruined my life". Tellez is charged with intoxication manslaughter. At the time of publication, Tellez is still in the Wichita County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
