Deadly crash shuts down lanes on 110 Freeway through South Los Angeles

A fatal crash involving a motorcycle rider closed multiple lanes of the 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles early Friday. The collision was reported around 6:17 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway just north of Adams Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. The rider was found down in the middle lanes after a crash involving two other vehicles, authorities said. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. No details about the victim’s identity or what caused the crash have been released. A SigAlert was issued just after 6:45 a.m., shutting down four southbound lanes and leaving traffic to pass through a single open lane. The closure was expected to last at least one hour. Video from the area around 7 a.m. showed heavy delays on both the northbound and southbound sides of the freeway through the University Park area. This is a developing story.
