Crashes cause traffic jam on I-69 in northwest Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Multiple crashes on Interstate 69 caused a traffic jam Monday afternoon on Fort Wayne's northwest side. Two lanes were shut down on I-69 northbound following a collision just before 4 p.m. near the Goshen Road exit. That's near the 310 mile-marker. The extent of any injuries was unclear. The Fort Wayne Police Department sent out a public safety alert warning drivers to take a different route but, if not possible to avoid the area, to slow down and drive cautiously. The alert estimated the road would be backed up until about 6:30 p.m. Not long after the first crash, emergency crews responded to a separate collision on the same side of the interstate at the 307 mile-marker. Dispatch confirmed there were no injuries in that crash.
