Coroner identifies city worker killed in crash involving Metro bus along Norwood Lateral

The coroner's office has identified the city worker killed in a crash involving a Metro bus and two city maintenance trucks that shut down the Norwood Lateral Thursday. It happened around 12:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of State Route 562. According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, a Metro bus going west on the Norwood Lateral hit a City of Cincinnati maintenance truck that was in the shoulder, pushing it forward into the trailer of the front pickup truck.Three city workers were working as part of a scheduled project, and one of them died as a result of the crash. The Hamilton County Coroner identified the worker Friday as 46-year-old Jonathan Allen Young. The driver of the Metro bus was also taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Treatment for injuries. Another city worker also suffered injuries and and is expected to survive.The lanes were closed for hours after the crash while police investigated, before reopening around 5 p.m.Metro released a statement after the crash, expressing condolences to those involved and saying the company is cooperating with law enforcement."At approximately 12:45 p.m. today, a Metro bus was involved in a collision on the Norwood Lateral. Tragically, an individual involved in the accident has died as a result of their injuries. Our thoughts are with their family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time," Metro's statement said. Cincinnati City Manager Sheryl Long also released a statement, saying an employee with the Department of Public Services was killed."I often refer to City staff as 'Team Cincy' because we are not just coworkers, we are family; and today we lost one of our own. We are focused on providing support to staff grappling with this sudden and shocking loss and will continue to work with local authorities as the investigation continues. Please join me in praying for all involved," Long said in part.
