SUV driver killed in head-on I-279 crash with tractor trailer identified by State Police
We now know the name of the 54-year-old man who was killed after his SUV was hit head-on on I-279. Troopers say a tractor-trailer was heading south on Interstate 279 between the Bellevue/West View (Exit 7) and Camp Horne Road (Exit 8) interchanges when the 70-year-old driver lost control.The tractor-trailer crossed the grass median and drove through a guiderail, then continued its path into the northbound lanes. Troopers say the tractor-trailer then hit an SUV being driven by 54-year-old Joseph Sasso. Sasso died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was also injured and taken to a hospital.
