Charges filed against truck driver in deadly 2024 Interstate 29 crash in Platte County
Charges have been filed against a semi-truck driver following a fatal crash in 2024 in Platte County, Missouri. Behzad Mahjouri-Samani, of Lincoln, Nebraska, is charged with one count of first-degree involuntary manslaughter. Charges are filed for the Oct. 23, 2025 crash that happened near 24.2 mile marker on Interstate 29. Mahjouri-Samani was driving a 2019 Peterbilt semi-truck when he failed to stop for congested traffic.Court records say the semi-truck he was driving struck a 2002 Toyota Corolla and a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia. The crash's impact pushed the Toyota off the right side of the interstate, where it hit a tree. The Freightliner was also pushed into a 2022 Ford F-350 pickup.A passenger inside the Toyota was killed in the crash.
