Cause of death ruled as accident for man recovered from Inner Harbor

UPDATE (May 11): The death of Branson Oduor, the 27-year-old man who went missing and whose body was recovered from the Inner Harbor has been ruled an accident. According to the Office of the State Medical Examiner, Oduor's manner of death was determined to be accidental, and the cause of death is blunt force head injuries in the setting of alcohol intoxication complicated by drowning. Oduor had gone missing in early April after a night in Fells Point with friends. His body was not found until April 14, when a body was recovered from the Inner Harbor.ORIGINAL STORY (April 14): Baltimore City police identified the person found in the water Tuesday as missing person Branson Oduor.Oduor was reported missing on April 3 after grabbing drinks with a friend in Fells Point, officials said.According to the Baltimore City Police Department, a man's body was recovered from the water in the 500 block of East Pratt Street. The call came in around 8 a.m., and limited information is available at this time.Police said the remains have been taken to the Medical Examiner's office to determine the cause of death.A spokesman for BPD said Oduor was found with trauma that they believe he may have suffered after falling off his bike.Foul play is not currently being considered in the case, according to Vernon Davis, a BPD spokesman.In a statement to WBAL-TV 11 News, Emily Costa, Oduor's girlfriend, said: "He was loved by a large community and will be greatly missed."
