Car crashes through Fallbrook cafe days before Mother’s Day
FALLBROOK, Calif. -- Launching a new business can be tough; it’s even tougher when someone launches their car through your front cafe window right before the biggest brunch day of the year. You can only put out the fires that are right in front of you,” said Givino Rossini, the CEO of Kettle Coffee Co. Kettle on Main had its window smashed out, and the crash left the wall leaning in a precarious way. Because no one was there at the time of the crash, it was a mystery as to what happened, but the mystery was solved pretty quickly. The tire was off the wheel, the whole front end had been crunched on impact, and it was definitely far from roadworthy,” said Rossini. A BMW with wood in the bumper and in terrible shape was abandoned just a few yards from the impact site. Hours later, the driver of the car showed up. “He comes over, looks at our door, and says, ' Dang, looks like someone vandalized you,” said Christiana Dizon, the General Manager of Kettle on Main. Dizon, the general manager of all three kettle locations, says the driver played a strange game of denying the accident while also making sure to provide his information. Before limping away in his nearly totaled BMW, scratching down the road on three tires. Kettle has now lost precious Mother’s Day prep time, but learned late tonight that the county engineers have cleared the building for business, meaning Kettle on Grand will open along with their shops in Oceanside and Escondido for the big weekend. “The last thing we want is to close our doors for the weekend,” said Dizon All three Kettle locations will be having specials for Mother’s Day, giving out free drinks for mothers who stay for brunch.
