Car crash victim sharing lessons from her journey through new book
DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) -- After being hit by a car going almost 110 miles-per-hour in Decatur in 2022, Amber Hooker was in a coma for five weeks and is still recovering today. But she's turning that pain into perseverance by sharing her journey through a new book. It's called "Impact: From Crash to Coma to Comeback." It details her story from the instant the crash happened, to her being touch and go in the hospital, and now continuing to fight for recovery. And she said she hopes what happened will inspire others. "That they can conquer their biggest battles and that they can always draw a positive out of a negative emotion," Hooker said. "Because with every positive, there's a negative, and with every negative, there's a positive. So, look at the positives." She also hosted a book release and signing event at the Millikin University Commons at 3 p.m. Saturday.
