BREAKING: Beaumont police investigating fatal crash
Beaumont police are investigating a fatal crash this morning. The crash was reported shortly after 4:30 a.m. in the 5400 block of Ohio Street near Kingsley Drive, just east of U.S.69/96/287, a few miles southeast of Lamar University. Police identify the victim as Cyanasia Dowl, 24. She was the driver and only person in the SUV. She was unresponsive at the scene and rushed by EMS to a hospital where she died. Police say the preliminary investigation shows that Dowl was driving northbound in the 1800 block of Cardinal Drive when she left the road for an unknown reason and crashed into a light pole. Officers remained on scene for several hours to investigate while crews cleaned up the glass and metal vehicle parts from the road. A wrecker arrived to tow away the SUV.
