Boy, 16, killed in e-bike crash in North Hills; friends hold vigil
Friends gathered Wednesday evening to mourn the loss of a 16-year-old boy who was killed in an e-bike crash involving an SUV in Los Angeles' North Hills neighborhood. The crash was reported near Roscoe Boulevard and Noble Avenue at about 10:23 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The victim, who was riding an e-bike at the time of the collision, was pronounced dead at the scene, police confirmed. Friends identified the victim as 16-year-old Dallas Howard during a vigil held at the crash site Wednesday evening. “Dallas was my best friend, and he was always a nice person,” Lebron Halton said. “Always generous, always looking to help people out and always kept a smile on his face. I just really couldn’t believe that he was gone.” A card reading “Long Live Dallas” was placed at the vigil, along with candles, flowers, a teddy bear and a basketball signed by friends. Police said the driver of the SUV remained at the scene following the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
