Andover woman killed in boat crash near Logan Airport pier
BOSTON (WWLP) - A 24-year-old woman from Andover died after a boat crashed into a pier near Logan International Airport late Wednesday night. According to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, the victim has been identified as Elizabeth Dankert, who died early Thursday morning at Massachusetts General Hospital after being brought from the scene. Prosecutors said Dankert and two 23-year-old women were in Boston's Seaport District on Wednesday evening when they boarded a boat operated by a 40-year-old man. According to investigators, the boat struck Logan Airport Pier 4R at approximately 11:20 p.m., throwing the passengers onto rocks along the shoreline. The other three occupants suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. The crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the office of Kevin Hayden. “I extend my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Elizabeth Dankert, and I assure them that all aspects of this tragedy are under investigation. I want to thank EMS personnel and other first responders for their exceptional treatment and recovery work under extremely difficult conditions,” Hayden said.
