84-year-old woman killed in Unicoi crash, charges pending, THP says
A woman was killed and two other people were injured in a crash that happened on Thursday in Unicoi, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. A THP report stated the driver of a Ford F-150 was going northbound on Unicoi Drive near Sugar Hollow Road and the driver of a Chevrolet S-10 was going southbound. The report stated the F-150 crossed over the double yellow line and struck the left front of the S-10 with its front center. After the impact, the F-150 rotated counterclockwise and came to rest in the roadway facing west, and the S-10 came to rest off the roadway facing south. The passenger in the S-10, 84-year-old Betty Edwards, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the F-150 and the driver of the S-10 were taken to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries. Charges against the F-150 driver are pending the outcome of the investigation.
