77-year-old woman dies in car vs semi crash near Freeman
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) - A Bridgewater, SD woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday near Freeman. According to a news release from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, around 11:32 a.m. Tuesday, the driver of an SUV was traveling northbound on 435th Avenue when she approached the stop sign at the SD Highway 44 intersection. At the same time, the driver of a semi was traveling westbound on Highway 44 near 435th Ave. The driver of the SUV entered the intersection and was struck by the semi. The driver of the SUV, a 77-year-old woman from Bridgewater, died from her injuries. SD Highway 44 was closed for several hours following the crash. She was wearing a seatbelt. An investigation into the crash is ongoing. The names of those involved have not been released pending the notification of family members.
