6 injured in major Salinas crash; police investigating speed, possible racing

Six people were reported injured in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Main Street and Romie Lane in Salinas around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, according to police.Investigators said the crash was a major-injury crash, but it was not fatal.Police said four people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while two others were treated at the scene and released.A witness told officers they believed two of the cars may have been racing, but investigators said they have not yet determined why one or more vehicles were speeding. Police said possible factors are still under investigation, including street racing or a vehicle fleeing another car.Investigators said speed was a contributing factor in the crash, but drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played a role.No arrests have been made at this time, per police.
