43-year-old bicyclist killed in overnight hit-and-run crash: Edinburg police
HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A juvenile driver has been taken into custody and will be charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Edinburg, the police department said in an update on Friday. The driver will be charged with collision involving personal injury or death, a second-degree felony. The juvenile was not identified by police. The hit-and-run crash claimed the life of bicyclist David Moreno, 43. At approximately 1 a.m., officers with the Edinburg police responded to the 2000 block of N. McColl Road. Investigators determined Moreno was riding his bicycle southbound in the center turning lane when he was struck from behind by a vehicle that drove away from the scene. Later, around 5 a.m., the parents of four juveniles reported the crash at the Edinburg Police Department lobby. The suspect vehicle was identified as a 2014 Dodge Caravan. Police said the four juveniles were inside the vehicle at the time of the collision and are all 16 years old. The crash remains under investigation.
