4 hurt in collision involving Polk County ambulance and pickup truck, deputies report
An ambulance and a pickup truck collided on Monday night at the U.S. 27 and State Road 544 intersection near Winter Haven, resulting in injuries to four individuals. The Polk County Sheriff's Office reported that the three occupants of the Polk County Fire Rescue ambulance were transported to hospitals, with two passengers sustaining critical injuries while the driver was released following treatment. The pickup truck driver was also hospitalized but is expected to recover fully. Authorities noted that the ambulance had its emergency lights activated at the time of the accident.
