2 dead, 2 hospitalized after crash on Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax County, police say

OAKTON, Va. (DC News Now) -- Two people are dead and two others are in the hospital after a vehicle crashed on Chain Bridge Road over Interstate 66 in Oakton overnight, according to police. In a post on the X platform shortly before 2 a.m., Fairfax County police said officers were at the scene of the single-vehicle crash. The driver, a woman, was pronounced dead there. Medics transported a man who was riding in the vehicle to the hospital with serious injuries, where police said he later died. Two other passengers, who officials only described as juveniles, were also transported to the hospital. Police said one of the juveniles had life-threatening injuries. As a result of the deadly crash, detectives temporarily shut down both directions of Chain Bridge Road to investigate. Police urged drivers to take alternate routes. As of Sunday morning, police have not released the names of the two people who died, and there is no word on the conditions of the two young passengers.
