19-year-old, 22-year-old killed in single-vehicle crash in Tuscaloosa
Two people are dead, and a third person is injured after a single-vehicle crash shortly after midnight Monday in Tuscaloosa County. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said 19-year-old George L. Porter III and 22-year-old Latayia Necole Furr Prewitt, both of Tuscaloosa, were both fatally injured when the 2013 Nissan Maxima they were passengers in, left the roadway, struck a guy wire, went airborne and overturned. The driver of the Nissan was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for medical treatment of their injuries. Porter and Prewitt were both pronounced dead at the scene. ALEA said the crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on Crescent Ridge Road Northeast near 9th Street Northeast, about one mile north of Tuscaloosa.
