15-year-old hospitalized after being hit by a car near Sunnyside High School
A 15-year-old was sent to the hospital in critical condition after getting hit by a car on Friday. Fresno police responded to a car-versus-pedestrian accident near Sunnyside High School a bit before 6 p.m. According to the investigation, a car was traveling northbound on Peach and had a green light. A teen was traveling eastbound along the south side of the intersection, crossing on a red light, and was struck by the car. The victim was described as a 15-year-old Sunnyside High School football player on his way to practice. Emergency services arrived and provided CPR, then took him to Community Regional Medical Center. The teen was reported to be in critical condition. The driver was determined not to be under the influence of alcohol and is cooperating with police. The driver is cooperating with police. This is an ongoing investigation.
