1 killed in rear-end crash near Dead Man’s Curve
CLEVELAND (WJW) -- A pickup truck driver is dead after reportedly rear-ending a semi-truck near Dead Man's Curve early Thursday, July 23. It happened at about 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 90 between Dead Man's Curve and the East 55th Street exit, according to Cleveland police investigators. The man was headed east on the freeway in the pickup truck when it ran into the back of a semi-truck also headed east. Speed is believed to have contributed to the crash, according to the release. The pickup truck bounced off the semi then hit an SUV, causing both to smash into a guardrail, according to the release. The pickup truck flipped several times. The driver of the pickup truck, a 42-year-old man, was transported to a hospital where he was declared dead. The pickup truck's passenger, a 40-year-old man, and the driver of the SUV, a 22-year-old woman, were also transported to a hospital, but the scope of their injuries isn't known. The driver of the semi-truck did not appear to be injured. Cleveland police accident investigators are still reviewing the circumstances of the crash.
