1 injured in collision involving Rutherford County school bus
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — At least one person was hospitalized following a crash involving a pickup truck and a Rutherford County school bus that was on the way to a field trip Thursday morning, officials said. According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, the crash happened on Manchester Pike at Fieldstone Drive. Officials said one lane of Manchester Pike was temporarily closed, but later reopened after the damaged school bus and pickup truck were towed away. According a statement from the principal at Buchanan Elementary School, the bus was carrying a group of first graders to a field trip. No injuries were reported to any students or staff, but the field trip was canceled following the crash. Meanwhile, the MPD said the driver of the pickup truck was taken to a local hospital to be treated. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is reportedly investigating what led to the crash. No additional details were immediately released.
