1 dead, 2 seriously hurt in crash on I-485 in northeast Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- One person is dead, and two others were taken to the hospital after a major crash on Interstate 485 in northeast Charlotte, according to Medic. The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on the interstate near U.S. 29 (North Tryon Street). Medic says one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. According to NCDOT, all lanes are closed on the I-485 Outer ramp to U.S. 29. It is unknown when the lanes will reopen. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have not provided an update on the crash.
