Youth detained after fatal crash in West Phoenix: authorities
A 19-year-old has been taken into custody after a fatal crash in the West Valley early Sunday morning. The incident, which occurred at 67th Avenue and Virginia Avenue, resulted in the death of 38-year-old Juan Andres Ortiz and injuries to two other adults. Andy Lepe, the young driver of the other vehicle involved, showed signs of impairment and was found to be speeding without headlights before the collision. Lepe was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including manslaughter, aggravated assault, and endangerment. Additional charges related to impairment are pending toxicology results.
