‘She was going too fast’: Details of deadly Fond du Lac County crash released, teen driver officially charged
(WFRV) - Details of the deadly Fond du Lac County crash have been released, and the teenage driver has been charged. According to a criminal complaint obtained by WFRV, 16-year-old Madylin Blonigen was officially charged for her role in the deadly Fond du Lac County Crash. On June 13, around 7:15 p.m., authorities were sent to a crash in the area of W1951 CTH HH that had multiple injuries. The vehicle had hit a culvert, went into the air, hit a utility pole, and rolled over. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, as they were trapped under the vehicle, the complaint said. There were six people in the vehicle. Authorities spoke with one of the victims at the scene of the crash, who said Blonigen was 'going too fast'. A witness told authorities that the vehicle appeared to be going quicker than it should have around the corner. According to the complaint, authorities spoke with Blonigen on June 14. She said they were hanging out at one of the victim's houses. They then got a car and made some stops to get gas and pick up one of the passengers. When asked if she had a driver's license or an instruction permit, Blonigen said she didn't have either but had driven before. Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney said Blonigen admitted to consuming THC from a vape cartridge pen before the crash. Additionally, four vape pens were recovered as evidence during the investigation, with one suspected to contain THC. Additional charges are anticipated as more evidence is available, DA Toney said. Anyone with details is asked to call the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office. Blonigen is charged with: Court records show Blonigen was in court on June 17 for her initial appearance. Her cash bond was set at $5,000. She is scheduled to be back in court on July 20 at 11 a.m. for her preliminary hearing. No additional information was provided.
