York County crash leaves victim trapped for 2 hours; firefighter hospitalized with heat-related injuries

One person was trapped for about two hours after a crash in York County early Monday, according to the Citizens Volunteer Fire Company. Video above: Headlines from WGAL News 8 Today. Emergency crews were called around 1:30 a.m. to the area of Fawn Grove Road and Stoney Lane in Fawn Township after a car went off the road and slammed into a tree.The crash left one person heavily trapped inside the vehicle, the fire company said.About 25 emergency responders worked at the scene, using heavy equipment to free the victim in a rescue that took roughly two hours. The person was then treated by medics.The fire company said the extrication was especially difficult because of the high heat, humidity and steep terrain.One firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat-related injuries, according to the fire company.
