Woman's Blood Alcohol Level Nearly 3 Times Legal Limit in Lombard Crash Hurt Family of 4

A 27-year-old woman, Jaquelin Onofre Reyes, faced charges of driving under the influence after causing a crash in Lombard, Illinois that injured a family of four, including a 10-year-old boy. Despite the request for detention by the DuPage County State's Attorney's office, Judge Joshua Dieden decided to release Onofre Reyes on electronic monitoring. She is prohibited from using alcohol or drugs. The incident occurred when Onofre Reyes, driving a Hummer on Route 53, attempted to pass traffic but ended up causing a collision. The family in the other vehicle was hospitalized, with the 10-year-old boy requiring surgery for serious injuries. Police found open containers of alcohol in Onofre Reyes' car, and her blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit. The Lombard police Chief condemned her actions as reckless and irresponsible. Onofre Reyes is scheduled to appear in court on January 20.
