Woman suffers life-threatening injuries in vehicle towing accident in Iron County
IRON COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A 36-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries on Sunday while someone was trying to tow her vehicle, according to the Iron County Sheriff's Office. At about 12:50 p.m. on June 14, Iron County deputies responded to a report of an accident involving a rolled vehicle in the Yankee Meadows Recreation Area. According to the sheriff's office, the woman and some friends were trying to recover her pickup truck in the recreation area. The vehicle was being towed using a tow strap when the tires on the other vehicle seized, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then left the road. During the incident, the woman's door opened and she was ejected. Several people passing by stopped and rendered medical aid until emergency personnel could arrive on scene. Life Flight then transported her to St. George Regional Hospital for further treatment. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. "The Iron County Sheriff’s Office reminds all motorists to always wear their seatbelts while enjoying the many outdoor recreation opportunities available throughout our county. Seatbelts remain one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injuries and save lives during vehicle accidents," a press release from the sheriff's office states. "The Iron County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the responding agencies that assisted with this incident, including the Parowan Police Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, Utah Highway Patrol, Brian Head Marshal’s Office, and fire personnel f rom Parowan City Fire Department."
