Woman seriously injured in Mass. hit and-run, driver charged
A driver is facing several charges after a woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, police said. Police were called to 228 Billerica Rd. at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a person hit by a car. First responders arrived to find the victim in the parking lot of the Atrius Health medical building suffering from serious injuries. She was first taken to Lowell General Hospital and later medically flown to Lahey Hospital in Burlington. According to police, the driver, later identified as Steven Mullen, 37, of Clinton, fled the scene.Mullen was found in Lowell Wednesday night and taken into custody. His car was found with major front-end damage behind a tire and tune-up garage on Boston Road in neighboring Billerica. Mullen was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person 60 or over, speeding, and leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, among other charges.Mullen will be arraigned in Lowell District Court Thursday morning.There has been no word on the victim's condition. The crash is under investigation.
