Woman killed, man hurt in Fairfax County construction accident
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Fairfax County police officers and fire and EMS crews were at the scene of a deadly construction accident in Oakton on Tuesday afternoon. The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) said in a social media post made shortly after 4:30 p.m. that the accident happened in the 12000 block of Waples Mill Road in Oakton. Details were limited, however, officials said a woman was pronounced dead and a man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Waples Mill Road was closed in both directions between Valeview Drive and West Ox Road. Evening commuters were advised to use an alternative route.
